Some of the main ideas that we touched on this week include the use of stories rather than facts to display an issue. I thought it was really interesting that the brain remembers a story that we can somehow relate to the points but not just straight up facts and data. The main ideas this week also were connected by following the same theme of making us better at reading and writing. Some very important details is that you have to be able to let yourself go out of your comfort zone. Mr schoenborn performed an experiment where he told us a story about his kids and we remembered a random fact just because we heard it and related to it. We learned all of these concepts this week through conversation and over a powerpoint. I’m still trying to learn how to write for a long period of time consistently and still have interesting things to say. I think i tred pretty hard to listen and try to understand all of the concepts. I would think that most of the material i soaked up pretty well and really learned what was being told to me. I still need to work on my creative writing skills and becoming a better creative writer in class. RLB 2This week our main topic was how to tell a story and keep your reader is interested. The TED talks and the 7 elements of storytelling went together to show us the some tools and concepts that will better our writing. We also went over the power of a story, showing us that a story sticks with people and statistics and facts don't leave quite the same impression. Also how if you tend to someones emotional side instead of there rational they're more likely to connect and relate to another persons words Week 3
RLB 4This week we had to figure out how to edit our TIB audio to fit a visual and background music. we had to troubleshoot and figure out how to work wevideo by using the resources we have. one of those being the tutorial video and i looked up some other tutorials on youtube. another thing we worked with was the audio. i had to find a slowing non-distracting beat that would help my story flow and not take the attention away from my voice. RLB 5. This past week we learned how to put together a slideshow about the connections between my Big Question and the novel “The Alchemist”. This slideshow included uploading photos of quotes that relate to my Big Question ( Why do life lessons often lead us to happiness) and then I boxed in the specific paragraph with page number which the quote is located. I gained better understanding of how to use my technology and make a real connections to the book that i am reading because i am reading the book to understand a larger question. Taking the photos of the page number and knowing exactly where to look for the quotes really taught me a new way to understand a book. Also, we had a discussion about how to break our Big Question down into a thesis and create an essay that paints a visual into the reader's mind about how the characters reacted to the things they learn whether they are good or bad.
